The Reception...
Our reception was held in Top
Notch, the large cabin on the lake where we married. Since we had
a small, private ceremony, the cabin was the ideal place for our
reception. We served Lori's (now) famous "Mrs. Fogg's
Magnificent Marry Me Chicken Puffs" (James named these when
he tried them during Lori's trial run of her recipe one evening).
The weather was gorgeous, and our guests enjoyed wandering down
by the lake and watching the ducks that gathered to wish us well.
We think the ducks just hoped that we were going to throw something
for them to eat, but we had fun thinking they were added
"guests" at our wedding!
We were unique in that fact that we had a SECOND reception three weeks after our first one. We had friends in the Pennsylvania area who wanted to have a celebration for us because they were not able to be with us in New Hampshire for our wedding there. Our second reception was as much fun as our first! Our friends Ed and Jim held it at their home and we had a second cake and Lori wore her gown and James wore his tuxedo for everyone to see!
Lori designed, made
and decorated our cake.
It was a butter recipe layer cake,
filled with blackberry jam and
sprinkled with blackberry brandy
between the layers.
It was a white-on-white scheme
with shells and a lace work design
done in the frosting.
Here we are
cutting our cake
at our first reception
at the lake.
This is from
our second reception
at our friends' home.
