Please
read the rules carefully to determine if the site you wish to nominate
truly meets the criteria* for addition to the Schuylkill County Web
Ring. If you feel that it does, follow the directions for
nomination of a site to the ring.
1. The
purpose of this ring is to show the BEST of sites in
Schuylkill County, not just any site. The ring was
designed specifically for businesses, attractions, professional services and
organizations with the hopes of
enhancing tourism and commerce within the county. . Content, as well as general site design,
proper use
of technology, load time and visual appeal are all considered when
choosing a site for addition to the ring. If your site does not
meet these requirements, it will be rejected. Changes to any
site after membership approval that affects the rules set below may
result in removal of that site from the ring. (If
you don't know what makes a good site, go to The
HTML Hell Page and see what NOT to do.) Sites are reviewed on a
regular basis by the ring manager.
- Sites hosted on "free"
services (including, but not limited to ones like Tripod and Geocities or those on Yahoo!
owned/operated services) ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR INCLUSION IN THE
RING after 1 Nov 2000.
- The HTML fragment for the ring MUST be on the very first page a visitor to your site
sees-- no exceptions. (This includes Flash page
or "entry page")
- If you have any Java, JavaScript or features like "refresh" embedded in your
sites, they must not prevent visitors from viewing the page the web ring HTML fragment is on.
- If you use Flash,
you MUST include the ability for the visitor to skip the intro.
- ABSOLUTELY NO FRAMES ALLOWED ON THE
FRONT PAGE OF ANY SITE IN THE RING.!!! - NO exceptions. Frames on lower levels
of a site are allowed as they do not affect navigation through the
ring using the ring HTML fragment.
- Sites must present a good impression of the region, businesses
and services. Nominated site MUST be attractive and well
designed, easy to navigate, use java script
carefully and offer valid contact information for visitors.
Gaudy backgrounds, unreadable text/background combos,
flashing/blinking "stuff" and gratuitous animations are
forbidden.
- Site must highlight a business,
attraction, group or professional service located in, or owned by
a resident of, Schuylkill
County or must pertain directly to the history of the county.
- Site cannot "compete"
with a site that is already a member of the ring (for example, a
business site that sells/offers the same items/services as a site
currently in the ring). This encourages diversity within the
ring.
- Personal pages (those not
highlighting a business/service/attraction) are rarely added to the
Schuylkill County Ring and only at the sole discretion of the ring
manager. Please NOTE: individual genealogy sites are
personal sites and are not eligible for addition to the
ring. This is NOT a genealogy ring.
- Sites will not be considered for addition into the ring if the
ring manager feels they do not meet the criteria set above.
Please keep in mind that these
guidelines are designed so that every member site of the ring gets a
fair chance at being seen by visitors navigating the ring. If
you feel you cannot accept, or abide by, the rules set above do not ask for
addition into the ring. *The ring manager of the Schuylkill County Web Ring
reserves the right to refuse the addition of any web site at her discretion
without
further explanation.
2. Fill in
the form below to nominate a site. The Ring Manager will visit the
site and make the determination as to whether or not the site should be
included in the ring.
3. If accepted, you will be notified
via e-mail with further instructions with 5 days of your application. Follow those instructions for addition to the ring.
